Default Insurance are trying to shaft me! Please help.

Hi
Sorry if this post is bit ranty but I'm really fluffing angry - I'll try and keep it family forum friendly.
In february an idiot decided to do a u-turn across my path without looking and knocked me off my motorbike. It was completely his fault and I have a witness who agrees. Well 8 months later (they are supposed to admit liability within 3months) he still hasn't admitted liability and his insurance firm say he's being evasive. They have sent me a cheque for the bike 'without prejudice' but have yet to compensate for the damaged to myself, clothing and the travel expenses I incurred.

I have now took out an insurance policy on a new bike I told them about the above but the moron has made allsorts of mistakes on my statement of fact and when I rang to tell them this they asked about my claim and are now saying they cannot insure me unless I pay a further £600 or cancel the policy costing me about £100 for their incompetance. The stupid thing is if this person doesn't admit liability and it turns out to be my fault (which it wasn't) then there'd still be no claim as he's said there is no damage to him or his car and I wouldn't bother claiming. I've explained this to them but they won't budge.
What can I do!?
Argh

Send the boys round

Ask your insurers about uninsured loss recovery as they did the chasing on behalf of my insurance when i was hit by a gyppo from a travelling fair. I had no luck but you might!

Unhappy Re: Insurance are trying to shaft me! Please help.

I've now said that I won't settle for less than a full refund so they are checking there tapes (bet they go missing) to see what I actually told them. If they think they're right they'll give me £377 back (I paid £41 and I'll have to get isnurance else where with 0 NCB (I sohuld have 2 years when this guys admitted liability...tit) then once he's admitted liability the new policy will refund me most of the difference between a quote with and without NCB. All very confusing and ****.

write to them... always... even if you had had a phone call...

You have to... then record delivery... the postal rule is black and white n whats more, what you want to tell them is then infront of them in black and white...

Unfortunately in this situation there's nothing you can do; did you get legal cover when you took out the original policy? If you did you should be able to get them to write molto threatening letters to their company, if you didn't, then stay on the phone to them constantly, write letters and go to citizen's advice.

Yes I did get legal cover. Someone on another forum told me to threated writing to every mag they advertise in and let everyone know how bad they are. I'm just going to have to bug and bug them into a full refund (surely there's a law for full refund within 7days) and get the C.A.B involved
I'm going to start recording their phone calls too.
