Basically, had 2x400GB HD's fail on me, so they got sent back under warranty.
The manufacturer fixed/replaced them, but the replacements went missing in the post. They are now saying that £50 will have to be paid to replace the drives that were lost. Am I not right in thinking that I shouldn't have to pay a penny and its their problem? David

Well if the courier picked them up and you have any paper work confirming this then its the couriers problem. I take it that it was the HD companies 'recommended' courier, in which case they can deal with it. If its one you arrange then you will need to speak to the courier to get the money and then refund the HD company.

Reading this the drives were sucesfully returned to the manufacturer??? And the repaired / replaced drives sent from the manufacturer to you have gone missing??
If this is the case then it's definately the manufacturer problem, surprised that they would send them at least recorded delivery if not by courier, in which case they should be able to track of and claim if are lost. If it's a uk supplier contact trading standards. |

ive found out in the past years working for royal mail its easy for a company to say "lost in the post" its a get out of jail free card really, everyone blames the post office because the organisation is so big and things do go missing, we just had a glass tv stand delivered by city link and it looked like a vandalised bus shelter when it arrived at my house
![]() if your drives were returned to you via royal mail standard parcel rate then they would qualify for a £30 insurance anyway, any item like that sent from a company back to you should be tracked or insured anyhow, not your problem. |
