He would also have the benefit of a pitboard saying +0 Melandri. Running into a corner like that on the final lap leaving more space than a barn door was simply inviting a pass. He should have expected it and either defended it or avoided it.

I think he was simply riding with his ego on a nice bright red factory bike and expected Melandri to yeild, which of course he didnt.

i can see where your coming from, how much did he make up on that lap in question from the start finish straight to the corner where it happened?

It cant have been much, I remember seeing Melandri right up Kallios chuff for a few laps.

I would say Kallio is at fault, but I think that reverse camera angle made it look like Melandri was further in front than he was.

One things for sure - I pretty certain a GP racer wouldn't deliberately ride into the side of someone causing and accident. Rubbing fairings; yes, the odd boot; yes but not a full on smash. Maybe even if the championship decided on it but not for a battle for 8th place and especially not when you're stepping onto a factory ride and hope to impress the team.

I think Kallio just wasn't expecting it. Melandri took a tighter line into the corner to overtake, had less mid-corner speed and just took Kallio by surprise who took a wider line and was carrying more speed.

Yep, I agree. The angle may be a little deceiving but in my book this is a legitimate pass...
