Feel sorry all you like. The RR wins from the sides, but the front is just so pig ugly it ruins the entire bike. The VFR is at least uniformly ugly all over.

It's like when you see a fantastic pair of legs, nice bum, slim waist, nice little wiggle as she walks, great clothes, long hair that flows as she flicks her head and turns... and it's the most dog ugly female you've ever seen in your life

I find its a bike that looks far better in person. I saw it yesterday and yea, the headlights look strange but when you see them up close it seems to just work. You also see the other fine details on the bike (the footpegs are like little works of art, rather than an afterthought like most bikes.)

So really, it needs to be seen in person to be appreciated (and bought to be depreciated )

Hideous bike. Typically german, boring lines, boring looks, great performance.

I'd never use 90% of what it can offer, and after sitting on one it didn't feel great. Looks wise its horrible.

Best job BMW done was that HP2 jobbie (that was also parked behined it). Far better looking.

thumbs down from over here.

Why did they have to go for a conventional IL4 screamer... Id be much more interested in an odd firing IL4 or V4. heh. Oh well, another bike to be not interested in

Gimmick firing order vs. making engine control sophisticated enough to beat the R1?

Why would you be interested in odd firing IL4? I know for a fact I am nowhere near fast enough to take advantage of the extra 1% of grip the crossplane crank lets you use.

So it has asymmetrical lights at the front, how terrible!

If it had two of the lights from the right side (as we look) it would just look like the generic modern sport bike.

I find it weird that we all say modern bikes look too alike, and then in the same breath scoff at any bike that is a little bit different.

I really like this bike. I applaud BMW for going for the best configuration for a litre bike (let's face it IL4 makes most sense) and braving the direct comparisons with the Jap bikes. The performance differential between it and the others would be wasted on me, but I do like what I've read about their traction control system, and if their first retail bikes truly are as good (and as powerful) as the press suggest they are then it's seriously impressive.

Ill be honest, most of its down to the sound, IL4 screamers just sound horrid to me, horrid enough to me to put me off of them... Sad I guess but hey ho, buy what you like huh.

Oh and as a side note, I thought you would appreciate a mechanical fix over an electronic patch?

You're a funny man Greek! You pretty much rule out 70% of the bikes available today based on sound! FWIW an IL4 at full chat sounds great!

However, I like to ride a bike before ruling it out completely. Even looks grow - When the new blade first came out, I thought it looked fugly. Now, if I was to go out and buy a superbike, it would be near the top of my list!

Sinbad - Still not sure about the asymmetrical headlights though. It has nothing to do with convention, just doesn't appeal to me like gixxer stacked headlights don't appeal either.
