Default SV1000 Lowers on an SV650.

Hello!

I've read everywhere that SV1000 lowers don't fit the SV650, which in some ways is true, but they're not that far wrong. Ok, there are a few minor adjustments that need to be made but I'm pretty happy with the overall fit.

They're only fitted on loosely at the moment as they will need to come again at some point to make a few adjustments.

On full lock, the steering does catch slightly on the lowers but with my rotary tool I'm going to cut a little bit away so that it doesn't. I had crash bungs on before and they don't fit which is why the holes are still there, going to sort that out with new bungs possibly. Obviously the rads are different and so the holes don't line up on the rad but I can make up a little bracket so that they do.

What are your thoughts on the silver and blue? I'm not 100% sure on it at the moment but my dad thinks it looks pretty cool. Hopefully it might grow on me.

before you go hacking bits off have you fitted the radiator brackets?

if so then make some larger ones that 'stand off' a bit more.

No not yet. That's one of the reasons they're still only loosely fitted, it is quite a close fit round the radiator at the moment. Once I know for certain that everything fits right and is ok, then I'll look at sorting the steering clearance. it'd be a major waste if I just went and did it and then turnout that that fit isn't working for it..

Haha. There are a few things that don't line up like the rad mounts or the steering issue but they're only minor things that can be sorted. I think its my bargain of the century! Cheers mate!

My dad reckons I should take the suzuki decals off and put some blue ones on, the more I look at it the more i like it!

so in other words, sv1000 lowers dont fit on 650's without a load of bodging so they dont fit as standard(always true) lol

but i do appreciate you stubborn it will work attitude, fancy making a daytona 595 back end fit on a curvy? as said before hacking it up try different offsets, also motosliders now make sv thou specsific sliders for the thou to fit in the lower holes which may fit on your 650 frame

To be honest I've not done that much bodging...yet. Just need to make a few new brackets.

Haha, can't be that difficult can it?!?!?

Just been out on the bike with the lowers on. I've now got a bubble in the right hand side lower where its caught on the exhaust...thought it had cleared it oopps.
