Default Bike recovery - i think i'm jinxed

Not too sure where to put this, please move it if its in the wrong place.

A couple of years ago my sv front spark flooded on the A12 when i was riding to my parents, 6 hours later, god knows how many phone calls to the AA, and i was soaked to the core and frozen stiff... they turned up, at 12:30, it was dark and i'd been left by myself the whole time. Needless to say i wasn't happy, and their policy of lone females being a priority... bah.

This weekend i was in wales and my bike was dead. I was at the top of a mountain, with power but no sound from the starter motor. I hadn't got any internet, no tools and nobody about that i knew, so i rang express recovery who'd been recommended to me by a friend, and i'm with express insurance, and the total of the phone call is 'we don't have you on hte system, we'll take you back to essex, but want your credit card so we can charge you £850 for the privilege'

... i dont own a credit card so they left me there. I can't get through to their complaints department and the person i just spoke to couldn't give a fig.

Can some one tell me who to go with, that won't leave me to get hypothermia, leave me at the top of the mountain, and update their records when i join so i actually have recovery?

(i got back from wales yesterday after shouting at her, wiggling wires about and i think it was the clutch safety switch thingy?)

Never had a problem with RAC, Green Flag, and whoever Natwest use (I assume Green Flag) and whoever Carole Nash use.

Had loads of problems with AA.

That sounds truly horrible!
In my experience though, they will all try to wriggle out of what we think they should do. I know you didn't have the internet, but I reckon the good old org would have done better for you, if only in terms of a safe place to be and some reassurance.

Most of the time you're never that far from an .orger and I'm sure most folk wouldn't hesitate to take a trip out with a flask of brew and some WD40.

I've got rescuemybike.com cover which was cheap and got good feedback from people.

Got my cars and bike covered with this company, as most folk on the org recommended them

Good value too.

Haven't tested them in anger yet

I use them and had to call on them after the Essex AR when my chain snapped just north of Birmingham. We're with me very quickly and took me home. They also phoned whilst I was waiting to check I was okay. Nothing but good feedback from me for them.

AA for me, Ive never needed them with the bike but when I needed them with a car they recovered me double the distance I was entitled to on basic cover, for no extra charge, and showed up in 20 mins (this was many many moons ago though, the car was a vauxhall nova) And when my dad broke down he called me, I called them and they got to him before I did.
