So the moment of truth had arrived, the car and trailer was loaded up, jerry cans filled. An early start saw a sharp arrival at a cold track ready for signing on at 7.30am. The usual briefing and laughing off any chance of anybody crashing and we're all set.

So with absolutely no riding time on an SV before it was in at the deep end.
First issue: Riser plates! Err no thanks, was not comfortable for my legs nor my ability to ride it. So they were removed pretty quickly.
2nd issue: Instant wrist pain after the first lap or so. A quick fiddle with lever angles and thankfully the rest of the day was pain free.

So on with trying to get to grips with the bike. The handling felt pretty good from the get go, the light weight was making things a little interesting at first but altering my riding soon made that an advantage. During the day I gradually reduced tyre pressures to try and recover some grip from the pants Maxxis tyres and then softening preload front and back gave me more and more confidence to throw the bike at the apex and trust was beginning to build.

With only one crash during the day from a couple of our over-eager intermediate / advanced riders, the day ran pretty smooth with plenty of track action.
The track was very cold and without tyre warmers there were a few 'moments' from myself confined to a few mid corner twitches and one powerslide out of the back straight chicane.

The Blyton Park track is very open but not to be dismissed as tame. The speed does build thru the lap with the Bunga Bunga section a real high speed challenge. The SV did ok thru here but the bars would wiggle and a was best attacked with vigour rather than shy out of it.
Will be eager to visit again, compared to the Cadwell day run by MSV, I would say that this was a day filled with a more experienced field, the Novice group was not confined to Novices if you know what I mean! Apart from that the track is obviously more forgiving, plenty of run off and a perfectly smooth surface.

Looking forward to fitting the Supercorsa scrubs for the next outing and trying out the Honda Generator / Tyrewarmers, also need bigger leathers to get the knee further out!!

At least it was sunny for your first run, but if the track is cold its not going to warm the tyres up.

Got around to fitting the GSXR fairings today. Turned out nice enough for me!
You may also spot the trick aluminium front fairing bracket from SES.
Helps a lot, apparently you can use the original but I found it too restrictive even after removing bits from the original.
Next trackday April 1st, Blyton again. Can't imagine weather being great so I'm holding off fitting the Supercorsa tyres until closer to the time.

Looking good mate, soon as mines done I'll hopefully see you on track. I've never actually ridden an sv in anger myself so am looking forward to having a go chucking it around.

I'm sure you'll love it, they are massive fun. And building it is half the joy!
