You've found a new way to lube your chain!
On a more serious note, you were lucky the front sprocket and chain didn't come off and jam, then you would have had a serious lock up! The number of bikes I have come across with loose front sprocket nuts, seem to be a lot of Yams that strip the threads, but thankfully the tab washer's hold. Good luck with the rebuild |

I had a similar problem with my 2003 FZ6. I believe its one of those Yamaha "quirks"! My front sprocket came off on the joining slip road of the motorway and luckily was retained by the plastic sprocket cover. Apparently there was an upgraded sprocket nut and washer package that should have been installed at at a service to prevent such a mishap.
I'm afraid I can't suggest anything for the case, i just thought I would let you know you aren't the only one! Mike |
