OK managed to get round to the bike today. Drain for the spark plug is clear, I don't have a guage to balance the carbs but is this likely to be the problem then?

It won't help if your carbs are not balanced. When I did mine the other month, the idle speed went up by about 3 or 400 rpm. Mind you, they were way out as I'd not done them in about 18 months.
It's fairly easy to do once you have a guage- a Morgan Carbtune is pretty good. |
