I think she made a mistake and should be punished for the error and the consequences, but this law should be enforced at some point, maybe rather than pay £'m for cameras around the Cat and Fiddle a couple of traffic cops patrolling the roads would be better, old argument so still rings true in my book. Without enforcing this law people who are thick, ignorant or just plain arrogant think its acceptable and then things like this will continue to happen.

No!
What she did was quite deliberate, as shown by her total lack of remorse. Only the result wasn't.
This law, whilst well intentioned, was doomed from the start by the delayed introduction. Why on earth give people a law that will only be implemented after several months! Another failure to join up the writing?

Sorry but it I think it should have been the other way around (offender gets hurt, crippled, dies). I think this type of accident is terrible.
People get there car licence get comfy in there car seat and think there sat on a sofa, scoffing food, reading books, texting etcetc while driving it's just not on.

Drivers who do not clear there windows too. Someone nearly wiped me out yesterday as their windows where steamed up and they moved into my lane. Grrrrrrrrr

It doesn't help that some "notorious" radio station dj's say there is nothing worng with using a phone and actively encourage people to use the phone while driving.

Nick ferrari from LBC is the biggest protagonist of this attitude i know of but i know for a fact a couple of the fools from Talksport do too, just cant remembet their names at mo.

I might actually email this article to Fatboy Ferrari and see what he has to say about it then...taking into account it could have been a member of his family who was inconsiderate enough to have a blow-out and park up in front of this poor unfortunate car driver who was doing nothing wrong at all by Ferrari's attitude.

My condeolences to the family of the woman who was killed and as someone above said she was killed thru a failure to comply with a simple law, she made that choice and she admits to it. She never said she got a call and didn't think about taking it. She actively sent texts and made calls and imho she actively killed an innocent person too so she should be done for manslaughter!
Scum! Hope she has a really hard time in jail.

"...the 21-year-old said she had felt there were times when using a phone while driving was acceptable. She told the court: "I didn't think I should be chatting away when manoeuvring roundabouts, but in the right conditions..."
Prosecutor Alan Blake replied: "In the right conditions on the M40 at 70mph?"
She added: "I probably would have slowed down."
She also told the court she could send and receive messages without taking her eyes off the road."

Silly cow. Hope that driving ban starts after she gets out.
