I sweated like a ******* all day and after 20 minutes of track time I had to stop and have a rest.

Its really hardwork.
+2. Couldn't walk properly for days. It will definitely get you fit is you do it often enough, although you'll be in so much pain while you're not on the bike!

Problem is you need people to go out with you when trail riding. You cant do it on your own, whereas mountain biking, well you can go anywhere on your own (not as much fun though granted)

I keep on looking at DRZ400's with the idea that I could pick one up for less than £1500 and add it to the garage using it for commuting and for using in winter.

Alternatively I could scrap this idea and put it towards a better bike than the SV.

I also have the idea of buying a new Mountain bike as that will actually get me fitter.....

Too much choice not enough money.
YOU ASWELL!

get a DRZ! do you need to faster than an SV can go?

i'm currently frying my brain about what to get or add next, i cant see any need to go quicker than what my SV will do, more than enough go for me..for know..

used to ride alot off road, green laning is fiarly easy going, moto x tracks hurt you...i used to get really bad forearm pump, they would go solid!! next day i could just about use them, my knees used to take a battering in offs alot, never my head, arms or the common collar bone injuries.

used to sweat like a good'un, bottles of water a plenty needed!

go on go for it, you'l love it!

I reckon MX is a bit like surfing, looks easy but incredibly tiring. It doesnt really count if your just blatting up and down a field though.

I'd have to find some trails to hit first. Would need to join the TRF i think to find them?

1. Sell the "car"
2. Sell the SV
3. Buy a MTB (there are loads of people round here to do that with if you want).
4. Buy a Tuono/KTM Superduke/Sports bike
5. Buy an old diesel Peugeot/other cheap car
6. If you have any change and free time left think about a crosser. Sorted.

1. Whats wrong with the "car"??? I get a good tan in the summer using it!
2. Dont think I could part with the SV at the moment, I still love it!
3. Definitely going to get one, just cant decide which to get!
4. Not Tuono, too thirsty I'd be skint owning one and the clutch is too heavy
5. 306 is what Im thinking of getting - good for lugging stuff about
6. Free time I have plenty of, money I dont!
