The Japs have been using acronyms for years. Back in the 80s Suzuki introduced TSCC (twin swirl combustion chambers) and proudly embossed it on cam covers. My dad asked my mate Gus what it stood for, his response - "Town and Suburbs Cowboy Cruisers", my old man wasn't sure whether to believe him or not so didn't push it any further. This was the same mate who put "F.I.T.S" stickers on his 350LC forks - no-one dared ask what it stood for in case they ended up looking stupid, so I ventured the question. Again he came out with a classic - "Foot In The Spokes" brakes.

Sports V-twin, as written on the TLS and TLR only the SV wasn't regarded as sporty when compared to its bigger brother/sister.

So what did TL stand for then, if SV stands for Sports Twin but only the TL got those stickers

Pretty unconvinced by the GSXR explanations there... The GSX ranges weren't particularily eXperimental were they? Sure, teh Katana was pretty out there but the first GSXs were the 250 and 400 if I've got this right, and they were pretty much just an evolution from the GSs. Seems more plausible to me that Suzuki started out with their GS nomenclature then added exciting sounding letters afterwards as and when they felt the need.

According to WikiAnswers, home of many wrong answers, CBR is Cross Beam Racer. But I reckon it's another "add an exciting letter", after the CB. What does CB stand for? Don't know
