So I had - ground anchor, Almax chain, Datatool System 4, disc lock on front, tracker (though that was ineffective due to their incompetence! That's another thread). Also it was covered up, and located behind my car (making it awkward to get to the sides of it). Anyway, they just brought a truck around and lifted the whole lot, concrete block and all, into it... |

If they can lift a ZX6-R from a public bike bay, where it has been chained to another bikes chain, has disk-locks front and back, an alarm and datatag, well then they can take anything really.

This is true...however I would also say it's harder to use the handling, braking on the SV. For instance, any modern SS600 would handle more "easily" (turning quicker, etc) than an SV, at least from my experience. Similarly, it's easier to stop quicker on the SS600 than the SV.

Did they find his chain ever (I know they found the bike)? Just curious as I did always wonder because the other bike could always have unlocked his chain (even if the bike was there later, maybe he popped out for something).

I wouldnt recommend you jump onto a SS600 or bigger straight away, take your time and learn to ride your SV to its full capabilities. The 750 is a big power jump, mine puts out 144bhp at the crank as opposed to the SV 70bhp ish.. also as posted above the power delivery is much different, its not a monster and its relatively easy to ride, if you have self control and restraint you'll be fine, but you need to give it some respect. If your going to change go for a 600, but even then your going to be in for surprise. As for which one, which one do you like best.

I'm also a tax dodging student. Also only had the SV for about 9 months and about 7k miles.
It's probably better to learn to ride the SV properly before buying a missile, there's way more potential there than you think.

Keep the SV and learn how to ride it properly. It will take you a long time before you find it lacking at all. Whatever you do don't feel the need to go out and buy a supersports and end up in a situation that your ability cannot cope with. Be safe.
