It's a bit thicker, so do it at your own risk and don't cry to me if it blows a fuel pump gasket

(or if you get shafted by customs and excise)

I seem to remember that doing that is illegal, unless you pay the fuel duty.

Yes it is, you have to register yourself as a producer of fuel and declare how much you're making.

Of course it's totally open to fiddling.

This one more than most.

If I was to do it I'd get myself the paperwork, declare a couple of gallons as "experimental" or something such like. Then run as much as I could get my hands on for cash.

Then if "dipped" the fuel is registered and paid for, you're only paying tax on a tankful or so.


That or I'd just completely take the pi$$ and distill red diesel.

Not anymore. It WAS illegal but now there's a pretty hefty allowance. You're allowed 2500 litres before you need to declare it
