You should have, you could have kipped at ours
![]() I know what you mean about not planning, thats kinda what Liz and I did when we went to Ireland we never really planned anything except the place we stayed at and just used that as a base to go exploring from. It all adds to the experience doesnt it ![]()

for sure it does, we knew we were heading to Porlock if we could make it and from there just randomly found a suitable B&B which was a little tricky at times since we needed 2 single rooms. SOme of the places were good enough to let us have doubles for the price of singles and i guess the weather did help on that front otherwise we could have paid twice as much and ended up sharing a twin or something.
We had a great little adventur tho ![]()

Wow some of my favourite roads. The Porlock to Lynmouth road can be hairy, gotta watch them sheeps.. I've done a route very similar to you by the looks of things. I'd love to take a week off to have a proper ride of the countryside theres so many good roads to be explored!!! Hopefully next summer will bring me a week of freedom riding!!!

We nearly took the AR over Porlock, but we ruled it out, due to traffic and distance reasons.
Bout time we had another bash at it... ![]()

OK time for a few photos from me
![]() The lady said i had a sea view when we arrived late at night and she wasn't lying. She didn't say i'd get some really cool cloud formations too ![]() Tregenna Castle's grounds ![]() And a couple of shots for them to put in their next brochure ![]() ![]() This view had it all... empty fields, fields with cows, sky, sea and a road and bike, what the hell else can you cram into a photo?? ![]() When we got to Land's End i saw this and hoped to god that neither of us would be requiring its services at any point. Thankfully we didn't... and a good thing too as i dont think it'll get very far with such short rotors on top ![]() And now my photbucket thingy has crashed so a few more later...including a lovely mermaid i found on the rocks in one of the bays!

Seems to be working again now so heres me getting over my fear of heights...by standing on the egde of a cliff at Lands End!!!
It was Cazza's idea, she said it'd make me feel manly. Peeing your pants aint very manly is it? ![]() ![]() Last house in the country ![]() Cazz plays i spy...by herself ![]() The trusty steeds enjoying the view and a well earned rest ![]() My attempt to be a human tripod resulted in this ![]() And then a nice couple who were walking by had to ruin it all and offer to take a pic for me. Well the guy did but his g/f clearly wore the trousers and took it off him and showed him how its done, lol. Girls eh? ![]() Beautiful beach and empty. Just a shame the sea was so cold otherwise i was up for a bit of skinny dipping. Cazz did say that i might scare the fish by showing them my maggot. ![]() Some more stunning sky ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is where we stayed on the final night, looks quite quaint from this angle. Shame it turned out to be an old peoples home disguised as an inn. It was so bad and dated it was actually funny ![]() ![]() And us back at Soho. So how come Cazz looks so nice and fresh and i look, well. Answers on a postcard to the usual adress about how i look ![]() ![]() Oh and the mermaid? Well here she is, the siren that brought me to her rocks ![]()

Yes, we had a great time. I'd highly recommend it... even the rain didn't bother us much. We had all our waterproofs and somewhere dry to stay every night. Certainly wouldn't have been happy if we'd been camping though.

Yes, really enjoyed that. One of my other favourites was the one along the north coast to Land's End (B3306 I think). Oh, and all of the tiny little unclassified roads that I took us along on our way to 'somewhere'. We encountered a few tractors hiding around the bends on those. ![]() Well, I say "we". It was actually me, as I was leading. Very chivalrous of Zig to let me go first. Quote:
![]() However, I threw Excel to the wind and embraced the spontaneity - and didn't regret it. It's different if there's a large group - but the season had been relatively quiet for a lot of these places due to the rubbish weather and we were only ever looking for 2 rooms; so it all worked out okay. |
