I was quite stunned with mine. Last year was £375 fully comp (no breakdown), originally my renewal from Express came in at £580, I expected an increase due to my claim, but not that much. I called express and the very lowest they said they could do was £480 with Breakdown.

I then started calling round, Carole Nash offered me £445 including the breakdown, so, called Express back, low and behold they offered me £430, including full UK & European breakdown and my excess has gone down drastically.

If you take the breakdown cover off and the £5 admin fee, it equates to......£375 so in effect I have stayed exactly the same and had a claim the was a total of £1600 ish damage.

My advice, phone a few up when the actual renewal is due, it makes a lot of difference on the date. Secondly, get the best quote elsewhere and see what renewal you then get. You have to remember, insurance companies use the money recieved to invest in the stock markets.....at the moment they are struggling......so you will find more companies fighting for the business. All in our favour me thinks.

Why have you had a claim? Didn't someone go into back of you?

G,
Be careful! If your neighbour reads this he'd have a good case for suing you for defamation of character as you don't have any proof. Just happened to a friend of mine who accused someone of putting stuff on his credit card. He ended up settling out of court for 20 GRAND and he got off lucky!

I'd delete the above or at least change it so it reads differently.

I'm speculating......not accusing.

Got any more details about this guy who had to pay out £20k? It sounds a lot, I would have thought you could only claim actual impact/damage to you, rather than punitive damages?
