A little modification is required for the R6 throttle tube to fit the Pointy SV's, no modification needed for the Curvy's.

I loved it on my 99SV650s I slacked off both cables at the handlebar all the way to full slack... then popped it on with little dificulty... it's a b!tch if you try to half-a$$ it and don't slack both cables up as much as you can..
with the gen-2 bikes... I hear it can be a little more tricky... some say you have to modify the side of it like shown on the canyonchaser site http://www.canyonchasers.net/shop/sv/R6-throttle.php But I have also heard from some gen2 riders that you don't need to cut anything.... It may have something to do with how far the cables have stretched from use already.... or how they slacked off the cables... all I can say is it was the best $8 I spent on my old 99 sv650s.... I got a full throttle twist without having to reposition my hand or use excessive arm movement to get full throttle Oh you can get just the throttle tube and fit your own grip.... OR make it easy and get the part with the grip already attached..... AND if you are anal go ahead and get the left grip to match while you're at it... they are cheap even when bought at the yammy dealer |

The part numbers I used for my curvey were:
5SL-26240-01-00, comes with a grip 4YR-26241-02-00 Grip L/H I can't remember exactly what I paid for them but it seemed very reasonable.

I bought the left grip to match the right throttle tube which had a grip on it already, but the grip pattern was so close in design so I never got around to doing the left one... Some people like their own gel grips or have heated ones etc... so they get just the tube and put their grips on it The part numbers vary depending on who is quoting them... Does anyone remember what years of R6 throttle tube were the same.... I seem to remember it being 03-06 or something like that... The part numbers I had for the Throttle tube was 5SL-26240-01-00 and it had the grip already on the tube. the matching left side grip was 4YR-26241-02-00 So it looks like the part numbers are pretty universal for Yamaha... I know some manufacturers use different part numbers for different world markets for some strange reason hopefully I'll end up getting the bike I look at tomorrow... and then I guess I'll get to see how easy it is to apply to the generation 2 bikes... ![]() I don't think I'll bother with heated grips... I'm Canadian.. I can deal with a little cold |
