Rant: 'flu jabs

I got ill after having mine.

My dad always gets ill straight after his injection, mum however never does!

When you have a jab, a very small dose of the infection is given to you in order for you body's immune system to recognize it should it bump into it again in the future. You reacting to it is just your body's way of storing the infection in its memory cells, so next time it will be prepared. Some people are lucky and don't have the actual reaction, the body just stores it immediately, for others it may take longer.

Something like that anyway

Just to put everyone`s mind at rest there is no way whatsoever that a flu injection can cause you to catch flu as the flu vaccine does not contain a live virus!

You can get some "minor" cold symptoms ie. slight temperature and some aches and pains for a couple of days and this is due to the immune system responding to the vaccine.

I have had my flu jab every year for the past 5 years and can thoroughly recommend it and i`ve never had any side effects other than a slightly sore arm.

The vaccine is made from a modified form of the flu virus and contains dead samples of the strains (generally) influenza a and b. The virus is grown in hens eggs and then made harmless in the laboratory before being made into the vaccine.

Yeah I forgot to clarify it isn't a live virus

I've had mine for around five years now and never had any problems, only had proper flu once and it sidelined me for a month.

I've been having the jab for years (I'm NOT over 60, got asthma) and I'll swear by it, I never get colds or any illness now.

So you must be a MAN then!!!!!!!
