That isn't true. That's part of the pack mentality thinking. It's been proved time and again that positive, not negative reinforcement is a much better way of training.

It's statements like this that can set really bad examples-and could create or exacerbate aggression problems.

I've seen a lot of dogs put to sleep due to bad advice, I think it's a minefield, but Shelly obviously need professional help here.

Starting to feel I need it too !

Tried positive training which I thought had worked, praise for good stuff and ignoring him when bad. Obvioulsy Sam has fallen into his mischievous ways.

I have a mate sitting next to me telling me I am too soft with him ! bad friend LOL (p.s. it was him that caged Sam ! so pick on Kwak LOL)

no worries, i know how you feel. i had a spaniel for 14 years, they can be an utter handful but are utterly gorgeous and very hard to scold.

looks like he still wants to play. bless. no huggage though unless he is calm etc...

He is always calm at home that is the problem. Like butter wouldnt melt. It's only occasionally on the field.

He will sit, lie, hold his paw, I am working on the NILFF (nothing in life is for free) - he has to work for treats etc, so I thought I was doing summat right. He gives and I reward.

Today on the field you could see him change, from Samson to a homing device LOL
