I moved from the SV650 to the ER6F.
A million times more comfortable, one of the best bikes I've ever had.
Chuck the zorst and cat away, fit an arrow or two brothers and it sounds lovely too.

Z750 is a great bike - I have had mine 3 years and done 13,000 miles on the standard suspension and yes it is budget stuff - but it still works well enough to do the job - "nightmares"

It was my plan to change the ER6 this year for a street triple, but decided to hold off and save longer, so I can keep the ER6 as well.

I also moved from an SV to a Z750 - the naked one and prettier one than Skips

Its VERY nice, even comes with the Sid Squid seal of approval (with regards to the Fuelling)

I learnt on an ER-6N (which I guess is a comment on how stable and predictable they are).

Nice enough bike but never going to be the most exciting. Similar power to the SV, slightly different delivery from the parallel, but otherwise good.

In what way is the power delivery different to the SV?

Yes, I've looked at a few vids on youtube at some of them with the two brothers exhausts. Sounded good, but I don't think youtube ever captures the real life sound of a twin!

You see, that's what I need to hear. Opinions from owners, not from some bike journalist! So the suspension isn't too bad then?

Was your SV naked Soulkiss? Was just wondered how much difference you've noticed in terms of wind protection in moving to a naked bike?

Cheers for all the replies guys!

One of my housemates has an ER6-F. I personally don't think it's a better bike than the SV. The engine's very, very lumpy at low-revs, and the power-delivery is boring. The stock suspension is a little better than the SV, so it doesn't dive as much under braking (but after throwing some Hagon progressives in the front of the SV it was back in the SV's favour). It's got a radically different riding position as it doesn't come with clip-ons, which I find hard to utilise effectively when riding hard, but it does make it very maneuverable at low-speeds (if you slip the clutch lots and lots to make it smooth).

On a completely non-performance related note, I don't think it sounds too bad on the stock can, but it does sound a bit tractor-like. Much better than the SV. However, once you switch out for aftermarket cans, the SV sounds a lot better (though the ER still sounds better than most IL4s )

Looks-wise, I've had more people saying my curvy looks nice than his ER, so sometimes a classic design stands the test of time

I had a Z750 before I wrote it off.... (bloody roundabouts and cold tyres EHH)

Engine was really nice.. handling was fine, so long as the roads weren't bumpy. The suspension is built to a budget (as was the whole bike), but then again it's cheap so can't complain. If you get a tail tidy, bellypan and a stubby can it also looks very tasty.

It was quite vibey though... 8k RPM was BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ and it became quite annoying. Even on the standard can it's quite loud so bear that in mind.

I used mine every day over the winter (did about 2800 miles in the 3 months I owned it), commuting pretty much every day, rain, salted roads, whatever. Not snow though, haha.

I'd wash it every 3 days or so. (I only work 3/4 days a week, so I'd wash it on Wednesday and then a proper one every Saturday) It was always coated in that Scottoiler FS-10 stuff.

And it's cheap to run. I was running for way over an indicated 200 miles on a tank. Most of the riding was fast-ish A-road stuff.. giving it the beans in the corners haha

Smallest I had was 113 miles till reserve and that was alot of 2nd gear foolery on the way to work.. across the common. Average range was about 175 miles! Not bad

It was also remarkably cheap to insure. I'm only 17 and it cost me £535 a year TFT.

Would I buy ANOTHER? No, not without getting some decent suspension fitted.

</long winded review>
