if you get a second hand one you take a big risk of geeting the ring of death

The newer ones should have the design fault ironed out, i believe it was something to do with poor soldering and poor cooling, the conoles were getting so warm inside that the solder was softening and all the stuff inside was unsoldering itself.

The other thing is some have a problem with the suspension on the disk drive and any small vibration (e.g. playing rock band with drums etc) cause the disk to get scratched beyond repair in the centre in the shape of a circle the size of a coffee cup.

1 more thing if you get a really early one like mine the (Gen1) they don't have a HDMI port so you can only get 720p definition. This is gutting when you've just spent £700 on a 1080p HDTV.

Yes you can, unless you go cheap and get the arcade or the old core version the other one comes with everything you need. You dont need a wireless adapter you know. I have both and the xbox is way better, if i had to get rid of one it would be the PS3 it never gets used, cept maybe for a blue ray dvd every now and then. Go for the 360, get a hard drive 120gb isnt bad, you can save your games to the HDD remember so you get quicker load times and dont have to listen to the disc whirring

We've had the middle model - the one with the 20gb hard disk and requires a cable to connect to the internet.

My boys have played it daily for probably around 6 months, still no rrod. I bought the 360 because the boys had a lot of old xbox games, so one download of a patch file and all but 2 or 3 of their legacy games worked.

I sold my old xbox about 4 years ago now so I dont have any old games so thats not really an issue for me.

I guess wireless connection and bigger disk to copy games to is an advantage, but it is worth the extra cost? Im thinking not.

They sorted out the red ring of death issue in november 2007...I have had mine and use it ALOT and not had any issue. You just have to make sure there is plenty of room for it to breathe.

As for xbox breaking and PS3's not doing.......you have to be joking, PS3 have sold a 1/4 of what XBOX360 have, they also have a higher failure rate per number of consoles sold.

For example on COD4 people have developed autoaimers online, they have also developed programme so that the opposition stand out as red dots even through building so you can see someone coming around a corner before they do.

could say the same for ps3 they arnt free from going completely wappo and xbxo's are simpler to fix ps3 not so however i am ****ed that they havnt had the problem properly rectified after all this time but xbox has undoubtedly the best game's including exclusive's gears mass effect and the like and live is unbeatable and worth the money imo
