Heat damages them apparantly.

I know I read somewhere that someone used two large metal washers to cover the bearings and put a bolt through it and they were fine.

That's what puzzled me, if you've removed them they would be fine. So all comes down to wether you can remove tham carefully without damaging them. If so then pop 'em straight back in...

its not so much the heat its the blasting grit that gets into the bearings. the heat can melt the grease and cause it to run onto the powder in the oven. i just know that coaters dont like bearings in the wheels...

Think I'll get them powdercoated then, my only worry was the wheels ovalling

Already got spare front wheel bearings will get some rear ones as well
