My shoulder was injured following being hit from behind whilst stopped at a red light.
No broken bones, time off work just "soft tissue", it took near on 4 years to get a fair payout. the initial offer was £900, I finally settled for £6,500. I would gladly pay double to get the shoulder to work as it did pre accident, I now only have 75% mobility in the shoulder and daily pain. It would be far better if the driver concerned was forced to pay the compensation and his insurance make up any short fall between what the driver can afford and what the settlement is. So what if he has to sell his house etc. It will teach him not to drive like a to55er if it costs him the roof over his head etc. Insurance detaches the driver from the true cost of his actions
