Tried that with a pair of gloves that got soaked in a rain shower and went a bit niffy.

Didnt work

Please don't put a set of goretex boots in the machine for a nice hot wash

Goretex doesn't enjoy high temperatured and I'm pretty sure that a lot of standard cleaning products are goping to treat it badly.

If you must clean them then get some nikwax tekwash which is approved for goretex and shelltex, and follow the instructions on that.

Don't rub nikwax / bees wax into them either as this stops them breathing

No intention of hot wash - how about a 30deg wash?

I still reckon the whole thing is asking for trouble.

For that reason I think I'm out

(added to that, I don't fancy fixing the washer afterwards)

Never washed my motorcycle gear. My solution to the stink problem is
as follows.

1. At work I always keep my office window open, even in the depth of
winter, plus I keep the office door open to create a draft.

2. At home I keep all my gear in the garage. Wasn't my choice: many
years ago Mrs Professor and Miss Professor bought a big free
standing coat rail, assembled it themselves and carried out all my
stuff.

PS. When I come home after work Mrs Professor often sprays my feet
with a toilet air freshener. Never understood why women are so fussy.

don't be an idiot, wash them by hand and use a leather feed which has waterproofing capabilities.

Definitely NOT recommended, but ...
Didn't someone on a similar thread suggest putting the offending article in a microwave?
seem to recollect that idea was shot down in flames.

Kitkat says put some cat litter in socks and shove it them your boots over night and it'll get rid of the smell. I haven't tried this myself and not sure if i fancy putting cat litter in my boots hence the reason for my stinky old Sidis living in the garage now
