i think i can honestly say that report is absoloutly garbage, it even admits that the mobile operators own info is better reguarding coverage, and just look at the quality of the report, a 2 year old could do better.

3g doesn't work where i live and thats a fact.

You can buy a basic phone for less than a fiver and it will have a better battery life than phones costing hundreds more.

Depends on what you want to do.

If it's phone calls and texts - get a bog standard cheap contract or PAYG.

If it's web and webapps get an iPhone - BUT the iPhone will cost you a fortune in the contract costs - O2 have to make back the exclusivity contract and % of your bill that they give to Apple to have the iPhone on their network.

I have had an iPhone for 14 months now, and its a great device - an OK phone, but a brilliant device (actually as a phone I would say it is now passable with the latest version of the OS - 3).

I have Sat Nav on it (co-pilot), constant access to emails and internet services, and I use it a lot to check internet connection speeds at work/external locations we use via Wifi - It's the Apps that make the iPhone, not the device (realise means to an end though).

Conclusion -- If you don't want a huge contract cost, and internet connectivity get a normal, cheap phone/contract. If you want an iPhone you will need to suffer the costs, but enjoy the phone!

For what you stated you want, get a cheapy ordinary phone and you'll have everything you need for peanuts.

That combined with your avatar has put me off grub indefinitely

To answer the OP, get an iPhone, they are superb, use mine all the time for web and email which works lovely and i've never had a problem with 3G reception anywhere. Couldn't live without it now.
