I still worry about having a tank full of explosive fuel between my legs. That and a cylinder head aimed squarely at your bum

The tank on some bikes eg Ducatis, actually have a sort of ridge over the back of the tank. Not sure if this would make things better or worse.

The jumping idea sounds reasonable as long as you manage to clear your screen... which is shaped and positioned to do a LOT more damage than your tank

The jumping idea is actually a taught technique, called unsurprisingly The Jump Technique and is mainly advised for T-bone situations as they say its better to fly and slide on the floor than it is to have that instant deceleration of hitting a wall of metal and glass.

i guess you;d need to have th time to see the accident coming to a degree or like Red prepare yourself slightly at junctions.

Think this is a good idea, I've snapped off a mirror with the boys before and on my last off dinted the SV's tank too. Both were extremeley painful I discussed it with someone (forget who) but we guessed wearing a cricketer's box or similar might just dig into your groin and cause more damage.

Not really the balls that are a massive problem (well they kind of were) but when I went up and over the sv tank I slid to the front of the seat cracked my balls and snapped my pelvis
Although on the upside the nice ramp gave me enough air to jump the car
