Idle Banter For non SV and non bike related chat (and the odd bit of humour - but if any post isn't suitable it'll get deleted real quick).![]() |

Just spent three cold hours in the Garage with the bikes.
![]() ![]() I have now finished fitting the bolt kit I got from Chewys, for the SV and it is greatly improved, all shiny and nice looking and I know that every bolt is fitted properly with the suitable thread compounds used (butter and super glue! ![]() ![]() As for Poor Henry, he is quite ill at the moment. Where the thugs at work pushed him over a couple of weeks ago, he has developed a wobbly side panel and when the Kick start snapped it took a lump out of the foot peg mount. Anyway, I gave him a once over too and he is now cleaned up, lubed up and ready for his new kick start when the Postman drops it through the door. When ever that will be... ![]() ![]() Oh well, if nothing else I am learning at quite a rate how to fix ropey old bikes! ![]() |

Hmm not sure I agree with that post Steve, I would think a little more carefully about my choice of words. I have a gay friend who finds "dyke" a most derogatory term, so I cringe a little when I read it, I do hope Jayne didn't feel worse on reading it.

As an active member of Pride, I actually find the use of the word Gay to mean worthless, rubbish or bad to be highly offensive. This use comes from the direct use of comparing homosexuality as abhorrent or wrong with something bad. Where I work I do pick up the guys who refer to things things as Gay. For example, one lad told me that heavy rain when he had to go home was "totally Ghey". He said the spelling made it OK because it was a different word. I leave that one open to debate. As a lesbian woman I am quite hardy, but I should point out that I lost a job about two years ago due to homophobic bullying at work. There is a time when it is awful and there is a time when I know that the exact opposite is meant. I guess for parity we should stop using some words so that we can remain politically correct, but the word Dyke has differing meanings in the community. I am quite butch, do not wear a lot of make up, ride motorcycles that I fix myself and I can use power tools. As such and in a jokey way with in the Lesbian community I can be referred to as a dyke. I know that Lozzo started to refer to me as a Dirty Lezza a while ago which I found greatly amusing, in this place where I consider you all to be friends, I feel safe to a certain degree. ![]() Thank you for taking the time to care Miss YC, it does mean a lot. ![]() |

Good good, I know it wasn't my place to comment really but I felt the need to post my concern. I'm very glad nothing more was meant by it!
