A K&N standard filter isn't supposed to flow any better than stock - its just supposed to last longer.
Exactly what I thought.
How expensive is mapping? (bare with me I like carbs) can you just plonk a power comander in and download a map or do you have to take it to a pro?

Interesting- the box has lots about "Hi-Flow filter" and "More air in=better performance" type gubbins.

I was really expecting little change when I ordered it- most reports on it with SVs say no real improvement to performance with a few saying it ran badly without a tweak.

When I saw it was snorkel-less, I guessed there may be a change as it would affect the amount of or the flow of air getting into the carbs. The bike does seem more keen, but as per my op, it could just be because the bike's just been serviced.

The induction noise is nice. Again, it seemed a bit more lively this morning, but at the same time a bit less keen past 7k revs- but this could be the carb balance more than anything.

I guess I'll see how it really performs once I have the carbs balanced (if it EVER stops raining!).

K+N is supposed to allow more air through but it works better on some bikes then others and I have not heard great things about them on SV's.

On previous bikes the K+N has improved it significantly (ZXR400, R6), more peaky less torque (CBR600), no difference (RF600 dont laugh)

BMC is the way to go on SV's
