Dump the fuel, empty the carbs too.
To give it the best chance of an easy start, if the plugs are anything other than perfect fit new ones. Choke plungers unlikely to be a problem, (yet), they mostly stick open not closed, which would be fine if you're trying to start it from very cold. Of course that would be a problem once it warms up a bit.

I have stored petrol for 15 months in a tank before deciding to use it and it was fine. This is on a low compression crap 125 lol.

Tried spraying some Easy Start into the airbox area?
If not, get some from halfords thats if nothing else works first. I'd check and clean the spark plugs anyway, becauser they will be wet from the fuel |

Thank you all loads for your suggestions. What with one thing and another, I've not had chance to put them into practice yet, but will work through the list this weekend hopefully and let you know!

Everything as said, fresh fuel, clean/new plugs, fully charged battery, oh and fresh fuel too.
![]() The most reliable starting method from cold I've found for my curvey is full choke and DON'T TOUCH THE THROTTLE, works every time. I find if you use the throttle and choke together it'll be very reluctant and once wetted it becomes even more stroppy. Once fired up and running just ease the choke off as much as you can while keeping it running smoothly. Don't leave it sitting idling for long periods, start it, let it settle for maybe 30sec while easing teh choke down, then ride off. Close the choke fully as soon as you can. If the engine is at all warm, no choke and just a touch of throttle will do it.
