Sounds same as here, major service on the curvy was £300, Falco £600 (same dealer). Luckily I found a place nearby that will do the job for £350.

If a minor service consists of oil, filter, plugs that should be fine to do.
I've tried to find a pdf manual for the bmw recently, but couldn't, I think somebody on here has one (Ceri JC?)

Go and get a test ride and try it, I would be quite confident you'll change your mind after riding one...

I've just bought an ER6 ..... too early to fully report .... but much more comfortable than the SVS, the engine isn't quite as energetic as the SV's .... but same as you, I'm hoping its a better alrounder than the 'fun for 20mins, a pain in the wrists after' SVS

They're bigger than any of the "Hot Wheels Miniatures" Sportsbikes but I'd hardly describe them as huge

But then everything looks small parked next to the ADV

You want something to commute on and tour on, my suggestion would be a Bandit 1250, if you can get the GT model it comes with luggage as well...

Decent upright riding position, nice comfy seat, plenty of torque, lovely peachy smooth power delivery can ride it around all day long in 6th gear. If i wanted a bike for what you want one for it would be a bandit. A faired one mind, as the screen is excellent on it to...
I'm not completely ruling out the IL4's. I actually thought about the new-shape FZ1 Fazer which feels like a completely different bike compared to my FZ6. Although the bike is bigger it felt much better balanced and the weight seemed to be kept down low.

Bandit 1250GT looks better than the 600-650 version and I would not completely rule it out. However, when I mentioned it to a couple of people I heard one opinion: It's a lovely bike... in a straight line

When does the FZ8 come out? I think if the price is right it could be a good alternative to a Z750 etc.

Like I said test ride, make your own mind up. I've ridden one. Ok comparing it my GSXR is not fair, whilst it wasnt as quick to steer or change direction as the GSXR is it certainly was no slouch, it just takes a bit of muscle to get it to initially begin to turn.

I'd probably want something with bit more oomph than the SV so that really rules out the ER6/Versys option
