Reckon they need to be aware of their manners, and hinted slightly at, builders are more likely to take notice if the neighbours a kn0b!

Lol, just tell em you'll shove em in that new creation of yours if they don't be quiet, I could teach em manners

There's a bloke round the corner from me who had a two storey extension built...which was nice. Only his neighbour wouldn't allow anyone onto his property to finish off the exterior coating. That was two years ago...still not done. Access was crucial to coat/plaster/whatever the wall.

If it's a party wall you have to allow "reasonable" access. If it was an extension that recently I'll bet any new walls were a good metre from the boundary so that will not apply, if so the neighbour was within their rights to refuse access.

As far as my tosser neighbour was concerned the party wall act means letting the husband of a friend wander through my garden whenever they want! I've lost track of the amount of times I've told the idiot to get out of my garden.

What do our resident builders think about the OP's predicament??

Right, im a self employed builder.
First port of call...
Tell them in a calm way without sounding like your moaning the issues you have, tell them all at once, dont come back another day with another moan otherwise they will think you're a moaner and probably take what you say with a pinch of salt, unless they are as respectful as me .
They may not know the problems they are causing.
Sentence should go something like, "morning chaps, can i speak to the gaffer please?"
Hi mate, dont wanna come across as a moaner or anything and i understand that you gotta get a job done but...tell him your issues...
Thanks mate for being understanding, can i get you guys a cuppa for listening? (cuppa optional lol)

They cant change their behaviour if they dont know it bothers you, if that doesnt work, tell your neighbour.
Failing that, ring building control and ask to speak to the officer looking after their build, he may be able to have a quiet word.

I had issues recently with a neighbour on a extension i built, party wall act jobbie, he had a right go at my mate who was helping me out, i talked to him face to face calmly for about 45 mins and he's left us alone since, said morning everytime we seen him, so no issues really in the end.

Phil

Now dont get me wrong, I'm not bothered in the slightest about building noise, it happens and its not forever.

What does bother me is the fact that they are a bunch of pikey *******s taking the ****. This isnt some decent building contractors, its more like Geordie from down the local with a few of his pals helping out.

They have been on the job for over a week and have only managed 6 courses of bricks they are truely ****

Im away for a few days but if its the same when I get back I will have a word with 'em and see what they say.

Thanks for the replies

Noise and swearing is part of a building site. You're not going to stop that.

Shared access means tough luck for you. Just put up with it.

But they should definitely not be banging on the wall to annoy your dogs. I'd be well pi55ed if someone did that to our dogs. Maybe stick some music on so the dogs don't hear them going down the path in the first place?

If you're going to talk to anyone, talk to them directly. Don't say "can I speak to the gaffer". That seems so patronising, plus it doesn't sound like there will be one. Just start chatting, then subtly mention the path etc if you want

Personally, if i have people on site, i dont want people who have a problem with something speaking to them, they should speak to me and i'll sort it, always speak to the organ grinder not the monkeys.
Think they are excused from being patronised if they're pikeys
