someone please wake me up on the 6th of may so i can vote (Mrs Ann 'expenses hoon' keen is my MP, she sure as hell is not getting my vote)
It's less than two months. Maybe I've been asleep but there doesn't seem to be any proper debate - just mutual mudslinging.

Off topic ...

[because I'm still curious as to whether there is any discernable differences in policy/ philosophy - like the "Conservatives to nothing for the poorer members of our society - Labour brought in the national minimum wage) etc arguments]

I've had a couple of flyers through the door.

The labour flyer states how the Consevatives budget is flawed and will drag us back (?) into recession.

The conservatives is a Sikh chap talking about his life living and working in the area and how he'd like to represent its interests (there was more but I only scanned it quickly - maybe it got more annoying as it went on)

On that basis alone he's more likely to get my vote - (if I even make the register in time)

It would be the first time I've ever voted conservative. (Old Mp from where I used to live was Susan Kramer (Lib Dem) GP, seemed sensible did the job etc - hope she keeps her seat .

Yes after they played a significant part in bringing the country to each knees

siemens and their lovely government made sure that they got paid black money and now that Greece is asking for it back they "know nothing about it"........though their justice system has huge cases going through their courts

honest is not the word I would use

i think Germany had a less severe reaction to events as they were not as dependent on financial services as the UK is.

If the UK is to learn anything from this recession it is that we shouldn't be overly dependent on one sector. we need to build more real stuff and export it rather than just building overly complicated financial instruments that collapse at the slightest hint of headwinds.

Unfortunately I think the UK (and us taxpayers) still has a whole heap of pain to go through yet before this is over. No matter who wins the election that will be the case

yup, that's what I'm picking up from the media too. Both main parties too scared to set out what they actually need to do and resorting to "they'll be worser than us" arguments

Was more refering to honesty regarding the state of the economy than the Greece thing. Bit of a Taboo subject here - brother's Fiancee's Greek and if her father get's onto the subject steam starts coming out of his ears.

Had the following statement:

Conservatives believe unemployment is a necessary evil in order to combat inflation.

Labour doesn't.

Do we just go around in 10 year cycles on the premise that power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely & a new broom sweeps clean?
