If it won't start off a fully charged battery, then I would try jumping it off a car battery before consigning the bike battery to recycling.

You can get the batery tested to check its charging efficiency. If its goosed (sounds it) then PM batteryman on here and he'll be able to sort you out with a good battery for a good price

An explanation of the clicking noise.
Your battery is flat - If the bike has been unused for any amount of time a flat battery is not unusual. If it's been left flat for any amount of time being knackered is no unusual.
