It's less than an hour of a job. However I'd check some other things as well as the balancing.

The plugs and check the carbs for water and crap build up. fact it improves when hot means it could be a little lean.

If carbs are badly out the rear tends to run rich and the front run a bit hot.

Hiya there, just called the garage who i bought the bike from (is still under warranty) and surprise surprise they gave me a whole list of things that it could be which meant it wasn't their responsibilty!!

Firstly they said that a restrictor could cause this to happen (only started happening this week, so thats unlikely!)
Then said that it could be dodgey fuel (only topped it up at the weekend)
Gonna fill it up tonight anyway so will see if that does anything.

I was quoted by another garage just under £50 for a carb balance, is it worth doing? Does the restrictor kit affect the balance of the carbs?

You would be able to buy a carbtune for under £50. They really keep their value so if you sold it on you could do it for free. It's v. easy.

What about this warranty though? Did you buy a s/h bike from a dealers?

yeah was s/h from a yamaha dealer. But their throwing around excuses so doubt they'll actually do the job unless the bike has physically stopped running.

It is their responsibility though. The premium you pay for a bike from a dealer is for this service. I''d just get rather vocal about it around potential customers of theirs.
