Some lovely roads down that neck of the wood. Myself, Essex of essex and Caddy2000 spent Fri, Sat and Sunday exploring the area (Somerset/Devon). Not too sure of the road names but left from where we were staying at West Compton, across to Bridgewater, A39 toward Minehead via Blue Anchor for ice cream, Porlock Hill, across to Lynmouth then B3223 via Simonsbath and Exford across to A396 to Tiverton and back via various routes to West Compton! We spotted a few SV's out as well. All in, a good long weekend.
(The ride above was on sunday) |

Lots of options Vin. If you have Tuesday accom sorted and want to hit Poole Quay. I'd stay in the New Forest Mon night. We've stayed at the Hollands Wood site a couple of times. Bike friendly with good amenities and a nice pub just up the road. There's plenty of routes from there to fill Tuesday.
I'd also recommend Porlock. Lots of details HERE. PM Phil24_7 for Plymouth details. |

Definately hit the north coast road for as far as you can in Cornwall.
A39 down to Newquay, then head for Perranporth, Porthtowan, Portreath, Hayle (Cafe One on the St Erth roundabout where you turn right for St Ives is bike friendly and do a great fry up), St Ives, bimble round the coast from there to Lands End. On the south for the return leg, Penzance, Helston (turn right for the Lizzard peninsular, most southerly point), Falmouth (ice cream at Pendennis point, opposite Fraggle Rock), Truro, St Austell, Liskeard, Plymouth The Hayle - Porthtowan stretch has become my commute now the sun is out (but it is certainly not a shortcut ![]() [edit] A39 down the north coast, not the A38, d'oh

I can let let you know some fantastic roads in Devon/Cornwall for riding, not so hot on the sight seeing side of things, as I'm normally going FAR too fast!

Recommend the A39 from Porlock to Lynmouth. It's good all the way to Wadebridge but this section is spectacular. If you're coming back on the South coast take the coast road from Bridport, through Abbotsbury to Weymouth (maybe head to the A35 from Portesham to avoid Weymouth though!). A good ride, unless it's blocked with bimblers, but is also v. pretty. If you have time go to Lizard as well.
