bad luck as well, got of lightly though!
Yup that is original swingarm, thought "oh that needs a lick of paint", then put my finger through bottom of it... best change that then!

The swingarm spindle was welded into the frame too, went to great length of time trying to get the swingarm off intact before going "well it's f*cked anyway" and giving it some stick with the angle grinder, then the gas torch, then a sledgehammer, then a bloody big drill, then a bigger hammer, then the gas torch AND the bigger hammer. Then it came out no problem

It is 05 but looks like it has been somebodys winter commuter as it did not have L plates and has done 18k mile. Engine sounds sweet as a nut though.

It's an '05, the swingarm has been replaced now, and the front sprocket I had a good old scrub of the chain and also the exhaust, had to wire brush all the rust off so it could be painted

And yeah the rust was a little scary, good thing YC had a look really!

I'd imagine it feels a bit more stable too? You sit more in it rather than on top of it?
A LOT more stable. Still getting buffeted by the wind but I can power through it now at 50mph so feeling much better about it

Glad you're enjoying it and well done on the first solo.

I've never heard an exhaust note described as 'fart in the bath' sound....I like that

the previous owner looked after it then, at least you found that sooner rather than later!
