I might go down to Cardiff Bay, drink beer and look at the big warship.

Except, my drinking pit of choice down there is RIGHT NEXT TO the dock where it's moored, I think. Darn.

Nope, it was a concoction of some of the Forces charities I believe, who then leant on the MoD/Government to do something about it. This is it's second year nationally I believe, last year's was a pretty small affair, hoping to be a bit bigger this time.

Genuine as they come sir

They have a similar day here in Spain. This year it took place a couple of weeks ago. Here it really is a big day. Now that I am the proud Dad of a serving Sailor I pay more heed to such things. In doing so I feel the pain of so many British parents who have seen their young lad sign up recently, only to be returned for a funeral service not long later.

Selfishly I am so glad my son elected for the Navy and not for Army. it's not about politics it's about people. No young boy signs up hoping to kill people and no parent expects their son not to have anything other than a long and healthy life. Very sad on occasions really.
