But I'm guessing they can't use it for speed calculations, as it would have to be approved by the whichever authority has to do it. I would imagine that it would be a case where they should ensure a consistent number of frames per second and that the timer on the camera is accurate. Thus, it would have to be aproved for speed measurements before the filming would take place..
However, they could easily use it for documenting offences of another nature, say overtaking on double whites, not giving the right of way and other such which do not require specialized equipment.. Thus, if you record the rides you take and don't do anything of the aforementioned, than it could be used to incriminate the driver that cuts in front of you, but without incriminating you for speeding... |

I put mine in my crash helmet most days now as im fedup of some tosser pulling out in front of me, then giving me the verbal for it.
As soon as the cameras pointed out, then soon shut up. |

Because I spent the vast majority of my time filtering to/from work, I'd think it would probably seem the most likely of times that an "accident" could occur. I don't do anything daft when filtering (or at anytime) as I've seen a number of mishaps with cyclists/bikers which have made me much more cautious (and slow !) - of course, it's not peace of mind having a camera to record any mishaps I might have but more to "protect" me in a any arising claim etc. Food for thought, though - thanks again.

I used to always have a camera on my bike and recorded every ride. The camera jumped out of focus one day so I took it off the bike. A few days later a off duty police officer tried to prove that I was speeding, you have no idea how thankful I was that the camera had broke. I've since decided not to put the camera back on my bike because my type of riding it's too risky.
But if your someone that rides by the rules then go for it, it could only benefit you more in case you have something to prove. |

I have had a case recently, the one featured in MCN where a camera was fitted to the fairing of a bike as an idiot did 60-80 on a KTM through vatious Surrey Vvillages on the back wheel of some KTM or other.
Our insured emerged into his path, and the camera went flying. Picked up by a little old lady from her garden, who handed it to the police. Who then prosecuted the rider for dangerous driving, and he was sent to prison for 16 weeks on the strength of the film he had recorded. Why bother?

I want to have a setup where i can record to a mini PC. One camera built into the nose cone, on built into the underside of the rear of the bike. This way nobody can really tell that there is a camera setup on the bike, but i can view my ride at home on the big screen and also use the video as evidence when it benefits me.
