Motrax £5 job

If it can hold a ~10kg roll bag on the back of my bike over this terrain:

It can pin down a tent for a bimble to the AR

No worries, I was amazed it managed to stay on as I'd forgotten to bung the webbing straps on that day - held much better than I'd imagined

Photo was taken on the Cirque du Jafar, in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco

Best bike trip ever

If you've got some room left in the boxes, can you fold the tent fabrics differently and pack with the pegs inside the boxes, leaving just the poles to strap on outside. They probably would then fit beneath the rack behind the grab rail (wrap in T-towel and plastic bag to remove risk of scratching bodywork).

I've strapped my tent across the back seat of the SV with a cheapo cargo net from the bike shop. Didn't move an inch from Ayrshire to Stratford - and that included me kicking it every time I got on and off and dropping the bike on the hard shoulder of the motorway.

My brother-in-law was on his Pan European and unpacked his tent and got it in the panniers - including the poles. When the tent was in its bag there was no way it would fit, but unpacked it was fine as the poles could be flexed.

He also bungeed a couple of folding seats UNDER the top box at the back of the bike. This meant the panniers could be used as a couple of extra mounting points for the bungee net. It didn't obscure the lights on the Pan but I don't know if this would work on your bike.

I've just bought a motrax cargo net - fixed the tent and the rest of the kit to the bike perfectly and it wasn't budging. best £4.99 i've spent I reckon.
