Should a dealer reg a bike or car as a sale in his name in order to sustain a higher sales output, which they do, thereby getting a bigger discount on the following years purchases the 1st MOT date and warranty is from the date registered.
Manufacturers have bikes and cars in storage for months,or years even, when sales drop off, but this does not affect warranty or MOT till the vehicle is registered to the first buyer,be it the dealer or a customer purchase. Manufacture date only applies to the type approval of the vehicle so to say that MOT and warranty is from date of manufacture is wrong.
Secondly,if you buy a pre-registered vehicle you will find that you are the second keeper of the vehicle so when you come to sell it on it will already have had two keepers reducing the resale value.
That is how dealers can offer pre-registered vehicles at a reduced price from the new intake of unregistered stock.
When I bought my SV new it was still in the box but had been pre-registered 0 miles but still £500 cheaper than a new one,but it did affect the length of warranty and MOT date because of this. I have had this situation on trucks and cars also but it is a way to get a big discount on what is still a new vehicle.

Shock horror! Padgetts selling old bikes for ridiculously high prices?! This guy has got to be a scammer! He'll be telling us that honda don't make this model anymore next!

I certainly wouldn't factor padgetts prices into the equation when looking at an average market value for a bike - it's like looking at the consumer price index and then sticking a brand new car on the monthly shopping list along side eggs, milk and bread
