I love all things British but as an Englishman in Scotland I can tell you that it's not generally the case for the locals. Lots of national pride!

I love visiting the southern wastelands with a wallet full of notes from up here, stiff upper lips tend to quiver a bit

That's what I did at the first petrol station in Wales on the way to the AR.

Took me a while to figure out why the guy asked his supervisor "do we take these"?

Didn't have a problem after that.

unfortunately there are a lot of places down here that will not accept scottish notes. whenever we come back from a trip up north we always either spend the money at the services or pay into the bank. Our local petrol station wont accept any scottish notes, neither will primark in woking, mcdonalds and burger king in guildford wont take scottish £20 notes. we were up visiting relatives last week and I was amazed at the new clydesdale notes, only been down here 2 years but I had never seen them before, they dont look like real money

It's a bloody joke. We should start refusing BOE notes. Considering all the bloody banks own each other now...ie HBOS + Lloyds TSB, Santander/Abbey so on an so forth, you would think they would just make all sterling notes legal tender throughout the UK!

When I am in England and hand over say a £10 Scottish note, I usually say that it is worth 12 English ones.
One day someone will believe this and give me extra change.
