I wanted a phone for music, basic photos and GPS so as I was about 2 years out of contract I asked Orange.I got sent a Nokia 5230 which is pretty basic,,I set up the maps for the GPS,coming home one night I thought I would try out the GPS and it worked fine, gets home and switched the screen off. My average bill monthly is only £15 as I have 400mins and 100 texts before I get charged and it is very very rare I go over the limit
NOT THIS TIME £123:88------They said I had been on the internet for days on end,but will not accept that it is impossible, plus when I phoned they said I was still on the internet and already have another £68 of internet charge on my next bill, I went loopy as no matter what I did with the internet it would not switch off and the only way to stop the connection was from Oranges end. Orange will not accept that there could be a fault on the phone I am now on 15days since receiving the new phone and they will not let me send it back or cancel as I am over the 7 day probation period. After much arguing with different departments they have agreed to cancel the internet charges, but not refund the money, instead my account is now about £160 in credit so I shouldn't have a phone bill for the next 9 months[I HOPE] Only problem I have now is a phone that is "Not fit for purpose" so I will be back on to Orange Monday for more arguments no doubt,TRYING TO GET A NEW PHONE or an internet package[bundle]for a £5p.m. and let them worry about the excessive usage. ----------NOT A HAPPY BUNNY ------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I got a very good deal from Orange - only problem was it took 5 calls to customer sevices to before they got it right
![]() The upside is everytime I complained they credited me with the disputed amount. At the moment I have unlimited internet, unlimited texts, 800 minutes and 30 photo/mth and have paid a total of £11.00 for 2 months use!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (most recent bill was for -£0.16). So yes they are useless but just complain and you get credit. To be honest the last complaint I made was purely my not understanding the way they work - but still got £4.00 creditted to my account ![]() I am hoping for something to go wrong this month so I can save even more ![]()

I really like HTC phones, not tried one with windows OS, although the new one looks fairly good. I like the android OS, it's just.......easy!

NDrive is the satnav app. Takes ages to download app and then even longer to download the maps. Takes lots of memory but got 4gb so no problems there.
Currently on a weeks free trial but the maps only cost 10 euro's ish. Much quicker to use as no need to wait for downloads, even works without gps to route plan. Menu system not as good as tomtom, but still easy to operate. Being able to navigate to a point on map is not avaiable but easy enough to work around. One of the reasons i got a smartphone was to use as a satnav on the bike with use of an earpiece. Hoping this works well enough to use on the bike.

If you go down android route try to get a stock rom (i.e. not an orange piece of **** one, I wiped my orange rom and put stock on and it works SOO much better). You can get these from the likes of Carphone warehouse. What network are you going to be on?
I have the Desire. Im with Milky, the battery isnt that bad. It will last a day under intense use and with minimal use and turning data off etc when im not needing it I've had 4 days out of it! Usually it'll last 2. To be honest, you wont get significantly better out of any other Smart phone... Android is a good OS and is being kept updated quite a lot so good things still to come. Desire HD is arguably better but its a lot bigger and heavier than the desire. Not sure how the dual sim will work out though. |
