I was in the RAF at the time and remember that phrase as if it happened yesterday.
As previously said, both Brian and Kate brought the real news to the masses. Their no nonsense, doesn't matter how deep the 5hit or how low the bullets are reports are a piece of history that deserve more recognition.

I remember many of his reports, including the "I counted them out..." He reported with conviction, and honesty. And because of that you felt you were being told the truth, unlike with some reporters.

He'll be missed.

I believe the Harriers he was referring to were RN fleet air arm ones as opposed to those of the RAF which was the report on Radio 2 apparently...Jeremy Vine...he's such a rascal!

Yeah me too, I was out at Wildenrath when the Falklands was on, seem to remember his report on both the BBC and BFBS, 61 is to young to go

He was quite clever, he wasnt allowed to say how many aircraft has taken part in the attack but it was enough to know all made it back safely, apparently he was asked to report on the harriers last flight last week but was too ill to attend.
