I know of a bloke who had his bike alarmed, chained to a ground anchor with a disc lock fitted and hidden behind a brick wall. In the middle of the night he heard his bike alarm trigger. By the time he had ran down stairs and opened the door, the thieves had pulled his wall down, cut through the chain and already had his bike in a van and were half way down his road.

well i already have oxford hadcore xl chain an padlock, a boss alarm disk lock.
the main reason i want a alarm is to warn off the opatunists when i park up say at a mates house or some thing.
i find the oxford disk lock/alarm a bit too sencetive out an about all it takes is a bit of wind an its off.

And you think a wired in alarm is going to be any better?

Trust me, I was until recently working in the bike trade for years and one of the biggest pains in the ar5e for bike shops is alarms that fail and leave the owner stranded, or ones that just go off for no reason. Some are better than others (I wouldn't touch anything with a Datatool badge on it) but ultimately they are all crap.

Just lock the bike up to something solid with a good quality chain and lock that can't be bolt-cropped (Almax are the best you can buy) and save a hunk of cash for something else for the bike.

Yep. NEVER fit an alarm to an SV. It'll only end in tears.

As others have said, don't bother with a alarm/immobiliser. They will leave you stranded with a dead bike at some point.

Have you watched the Almax Videos, the oxford chain is cut in less than 50secs with bolt cutters.
