Intesting!
I've got the KTM 250 2T exactly as you say - drinks fuel, & a bugger to start when you've fallen off for the umptenth time and tired. My girlfriend has the aforementioned Serrow which is a pig to get started for the first time after a few weeks, but after that it has the electric start so is fine and it uses a third of the petrol I do. But I still love my KTM
I've been out with the TRF from Boxhill - that reminds me I need to join them this year.

Been out with the TRF all day - 99 miles exactly, a lot of it very very sticky muddy clay, around Tidworth where the tanks practice!

Was out myself on the WR yesterday

All was well on the muddy stuff .. but about 45mis into the ride I hit a patch of ice on a road section going down a right left slalom bit, guess I was doing 25mph??? ... the front went .. thought 'Doh, I'm down' .. but it didn't go all the way and came back to me ... the rear had slid out by now too, so I was speedway style crossed up , the front went again, then came back .. then the rear started to return slowly I thought 'ooooh ... I might just get away with this' ... then WHAM .. the rear found grip all of a sudden and spat me off high-side

Landed 'turtle' on my back and slid to a halt. The bike and I were both fine, but as I was sliding down the road on my back, one thought went through my mind ... "I bet I've just broken them goggles, I wish I had put that set on"

Might seem odd thing to think to you readers, but basically I had put a set of BRAND NEW (and never worn) set of Oakley goggles in my rucksack for this ride; so I had a fresh set of goggles to wear part way round ... and I had just landed off a high-side straight onto my back rucksack!!!

Some pics -

Stuck in the mud

My rescuer decided that he would give it a go - presumably thinking I was just being a wuss and it wasn't that hard to get through ... funilly enough, he got stuck too!!

Got back to the van and saw I had picked up a nail on my travels!

Looks good, sorry to hear about the goggles - presume they're a goner?

I'm assuming due the need to travel on public roads between the off road sections, to do this you would need a road legal bike? Are there any places that you could trailer the bike too, ride round and then trailer back again? Or are there not enough big enough areas to do this?

THere's no legal free 'off road' riding anymore - you have to pay about £50 to the landowner at organised events for what you describe.

Also the Green lanes are Public Byways so, yup, road legal bikes needed.

Organised events? Is it not possible to go out when ever the mood takes? It has to be pre-arranged events? This is sounding less attractive than I first thought.

beg to differ. i know of alot of places you dont have to pay for trials riding (swainey woods nr leeds). or if you do its only a few quid, the competition events are about £20, though at organised events its mostly insurance costs.. not all offroad is expensive.

less into green laning.. cant stand the "you just p***ed on my christmas tree" looks from ramblers
