Thinking about getting a little 125 for doing some green lane riding and maybe enticing the other half into biking.
Question is what bike? Something that needs a bit of tarting up TLC I was thinking, and not being too pricey is best cos I'll undoubtably fall off it at some point. ![]() |

Do you want something quite quick or something fairly tame, my first bike was a honda xr125, it wasnt that quick as they are four stroke but it was reliable, very predictable and with the right tyres on it was quite adequate for a bit of moderate off roading.

There was a good thread on this not so long ago the honda CG125 came highly recommended. I believe Fizzwheel described them as bulletproof

Kawasaki KMX 125, Yamaha DT 125, Honda XR or XL 125, Suzuki TS 125 X or one of the cheap and cheerful Chinese copy off road bikes that all seem to use a CG type engine.
KMX is pricey, DT is physically big, XR is pricey, XL and TS X are now dinosaurs, Chinese stuff will fall apart sooner rather than later. You pays your money.......... ![]() Regards Rich ![]() |

I wouldn't bother with a 125.
Get a Honda CRF230. Ideal bikes and cheap. |

I've got an XR125 and it's very good off road, good long suspension and easy to control. I rode up a huge coal tip at the weekend, shat my pants - very steep. They've got a CG125 engine so a bit boring but very reliable and economical too for commuting in the week.
