I could never do clay modeling, always ended up with a ball that looked nothing like I wanted to.
BTW what software you using? I'm wanting to do some design work mesen. Cheers
I use a couple of programs for my CAD work. Alias Studiotools for "styling" the bodywork and Solidworks for the engineered components. The mix works quite well, though they are totally different packages.

why did you go with the curvy style frame and not the pointy(obviously you have taste etc)
Simply because I could pick up a broken curvy for less then a broken pointy. At the start of the project, it was more a case of get a bike with all the parts, with the priority being the engine to start taking dimension off.

Keep this you to date mate looks like a epic build.
You doing anything fancy with the exhaust?
No, the exhaust will be kept where it is. I did think early on to place it under the seat, but this makes a few things more complicated, such as a more complex subframe, heatshield around the bodywork/seat etc.

MO do yourself a favour now and ditch the stock front end and rear shock, forget about the standard geometry. When you get them handling sweet the numbers are pretty much a GSXR 600. Otherwise you will need to do that later and you wouldn't want to run into any clearance issues when making it handle as well as it looks.

Are you doing the lot yourself? What CAD package? Is this what you do or is it a hobby?
I will be getting some sportsbike suspension and brakes to put on it, just not at that stage yet. As for the geometry, I think I may look into that. How far off the GSXR 600 geometry is the SV and is there a particular year/version which is favoured?

Im doing all the work myself, rather foolishly. I may have someone come in to TIG my frame and fuel tank though. Yeh, this is what I do, but this is more of a personal project. Still in the early stages of setting up the business.

And yes, I will do my best to keep everyone up to date. I think things should start to happen a lot quicker from now on and I regularly update my blog too.

Where are you based, any have you got any jobs going?

Normally shock is lengthened out to around 355mm (from 337), forks 20mm shorter approx but with less offset in triples. More rake obviously but trail not changed that drastically.

I believe it comes to very similar numbers to a K4 series GSXR but would have to check that. Rides very similar anyway, nice and planted rear, not squatting and running wide or chirping and sliding.

The stock rear link on curvy is pretty much linear for all travel that gets used.

With the GSXR front end it pulls the front down, it make it a much more planted bike and more focused

That looks like it is going to be stunning, i agree with the underseat exhaust idea. Do you have any ideas of what you have planned for the engine?

Very impressed with the design stage, you must have an art based background looking at the sketches, computer work and clay.

Please keep us updated, i can't wait to see the finished product.

Looking at the CAD design there was a matching swing arm too, it would be nice that's for sure even if it was double sided
