I dont like the look of the pointy, and it wouldn't really be a project, and as already said, not the same bike, or even close IMO

SV1000 is a better bike than a TLS will ever be - no matter what you spend on bouncy bits.

And the whole 125ish bhp TLS against the 105ish bhp SV1000 argument is irrelevant - only the first few TLs made anything like 120+bhp, and I wish anyone who would like one the best of luck in finding one as I've never met a TLS owner that wasn't informed by the seller that his/her bike is a 'full power' one, even if clearly isn't.
The thing about the TLS is that it was never as good - or as hard man bad - as was claimed, just a flawed, developmental dead end, and now too many of them have been through the hands of several people you really don't want to buy a S/H motorcycle from.

Buy a TLR instead - one of the most effective real world road sportsters it will ever be your good fortune to ride.

I agree and dissagree,

I have always liked the look and sound of the r over the s, IMO.

And unless from this i was advised that i shouldn't that is what i would have gone for, as for them not being as good as the SV, i agree, that is why the TL was scrapped and the SV was launched, progression, but again from my main post, i dont want a SV. I want a fun twin to go along side the IL4, but just not sure which one, i have not yet riden a ducatti (i have riden most of them) that i like, adn i am not really all that keen on RSV's or anything like that. and i want a project, so the TL just keeps jumping out at me.

I know there is better bikes out there, i am not saying different, but the TL cant be as bad as everyone makes out!

Heavy bike, heavy handling, engine doesn't have the same charm.

You'd spend the same on suspension you would on the TLS and then wish you'd bought an SRAD GSXR.

The earlier TLS had more power than later versions IIRC, so get one wothout a steering damper and you know you got a good 'un.

Early ones had recall ECU which took the edge off that a bit IIRC. There's loads of bullsh*t floating round about them so ask someone like D'Ecosse who knows what they're on about.
