i can vouch for the vfr 800 pre vtec being a good bike but its down on hp compared to the sv1000,the sv pumps out about 116 hp,123 if its the aniversery one, where as the vfr puts out about 110hp and the vtec one slighty less, but of course the vfr is a dam sight more reliable

if you like the SV1000 why dont you just throw some cash at it to get it how you want e.g. set of gilles riser clipons with longer brake and clutch lines add to this a decent rear shock and better valving/springs for the front and bobs your auntie.

an aprillia rsv 1000r/mille is a good twin.. more power but roughly the same torque. my dad has the mille and pretty much worships it and crys over every spec of dust.. it tends to eat its tires somewhat though

Its a cracking bike and is kept meticuliously. Im just weighing up dif options. Better to have an informed choice ![]() Have noticed my 'inner hooligan' comes out more often these days, and whilst ive had the sv 2 years and no points (jinxed now) i would consider something with the same grunt/torque but lower top end whack. Thinking if i had more of a tourer setup vfffrr or sprint etc then id be less inclined to. Then again, maybe not who knows lol Last edited by coolevilangel; 26-03-11 at 10:33 AM. |

suppose if you have jinxed yourself, you may aswell be the first person to be caught doing over 130mph with full panniers and top box haha

The top end and grunt on an ST or VFR may surprise you so rather than change the bike change the hooligan

falco or ventura for touring, thats it,IMHO
But I would also look at a good viffer 750 and not rule it out, down on power, long in the tooth but a mate of mine has one and its a stonking bike with good low down grunt and one tooth up on the back helps midrange - not as good as a twin though Sprints are ok but burn oil like fook and the suspension does not like long term weight on it Last edited by kerby; 26-03-11 at 10:07 PM. |

VFR's sounds sweet with a nice can on them, but the VTEC would kill me, you could get a slightly older one that doesn't have that... What to do is try as many bikes as you can see what you like...
How about the Aprilia Shiver?
