Is that WD installed correctly? The spring looks to be going down on your pic, its been a while since I've been in that area of an SV but IIRC I thought the spring went up and hooked onto the clutch cable connector.
If thats the case then perhaps you popped it all back together back to front.

Looks like you've got plenty of movement, you should be able to move the rest of the plates when the plate lifts up, if they are all stuck together then that's your problem.

Either force them apart or you could put the bike up on a paddock stand and warm the engine up, that should help free them.

Well the cover is off now so I will wait untill morning and take the plates out to soak them.

Yes that looks absolutely fine. Now you have it that far apart you might as well split the clutch and check the plates out. I suspect you'll find one or more of the steel plates are stuck to the friction plates.

right so just put the clutch back together after letting the plates soak all morning and what do you know. It works!! For some reason now though it is hesitating to select first gear, could this be connected??

adjustment will have changed, so reset that, then check the normal stuff, chain adjustment, oil level, selector shaft lubrication, you know that kind of thing.
